Artistic Director, Carolyn Gross

Carolyn Gross believes in the power of singing to bring young people together in friendship and community. She's seen first hand the potential of transformation through rich choral music. Carolyn looks forward to each Tuesday's musical adventures and adding beauty to our communities with the One Voice singers.

Carolyn earned her bachelors and masters degree in Vocal Music Education from Wayne State University. She is currently leading the choirs at Grosse Pointe South High School.  Before returning to Grosse Pointe Public Schools, Carolyn taught music at the Grosse Pointe Academy, and led the choirs at Brownell Middle School in the Grosse Pointe Public School System for twenty-six years. She served as a music department chair, coordinator of the annual district wide Summer Choir Workshop, and music director of the all-school musicals. Carolyn was also the MSVMA SA Honors Choir director in 2012, MMEA Elementary State Honors Choir director in 2019, and the Ohio Music Education Association District 1 Honors Choir in 2023. Her choirs performed at MSVMA Choral Hour in 2016 and 2018 and the Michigan ACDA fall Conference in 2017.

One Voice Assistant Director, Tammy Palazzolo

Tammy pursued a degree in music education so she could combine her two passions: music and education. She feels that there is nothing more beautiful, than a group of individuals uniting their voices in harmony to create something bigger than themselves. Choir is one instance in life, where a group of people are all focusing on the same goal. She knows that One Voice will provide this moment of magic to young women in the Metro Detroit Area.

Tammy Palazzolo has her bachelors degree in Vocal Music Education from Wayne State University. She has experience teaching all grade-levels, but found her home teaching middle school choir in the Chippewa Valley School district at Wyandot Middle School. Tammy directs three-grade level choirs totaling over 200 students, and also works as the music-director of the all-school musical. She spends her summers working different music workshops, such as the Summer Choir in Grosse Pointe.

Tammy lives in Roseville with her husband Anthony and her son Andy.

One Voice Jr Choir Workshops Director/Accompanist, Sarah Boyd

Sarah Boyd believes that all children (and all adults!) are musical. Musicians are people who make music, and everyone can learn to participate in music making.  Joyfully spreading music making in the Metro Detroit area has been her passion since 2004.  Sarah maintains an active private piano studio of students in private and group classes of all ages. In 2010, she founded Hummingbirds Music Together, an early childhood music program for children and the grownups who love them. She is on staff as a Teaching Artist for the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, creating programming, teacher workshops, and group music experiences for classrooms in and around Detroit.

Sarah holds a bachelor's degree in music education and is currently completing a master's degree in music education at Eastern Michigan University. She completed a Graduate Certificate in Injury-Preventive Well-Coordinated Keyboard Technique with Dr. Lister-Sink at Salem College in 2022. Sarah holds certifications in early childhood music and piano pedagogy from the Gordon Institute of Music Learning.

Sarah lives in Grosse Pointe Park with her husband, Ryan, and children Julia, JP, Luke, and Wesley. It is a special joy to support One Voice and now attend with her daughter Julia, a member of the choir!

One Voice Accompanist, Olivia Ferguson

Olivia Ferguson earned her undergraduate degree in voice performance from Michigan State University, and her masters degree in voice performance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She believes in the power of singing and storytelling to bring people, communities, and cultures together. This is evidenced by her work outside the United States – Olivia has studied, performed, and/or taught music on 5 continents, and hopes to continue learning from and engaging with countries and cultures around the world for the rest of her life.

Olivia has been working as a collaborative pianist for soloists, choirs, and musical theatre productions since 2006 and has maintained a private voice studio since 2010. As a teacher she works to create a culture of joy and musical excellence, one that celebrates the unique capacity of each singer and unlocks their fullest potential, in both the classroom and the private studio. She strives to foster sincere, nurturing, and challenging relationships with students and colleagues, so they can all do the work of changing lives together through song. Olivia is currently the collaborative pianist for Chippewa Valley High School Choirs, the vocal coach and rehearsal pianist for Chippewa Valley Musical Productions, and the music director for Tabernacle Baptist Church in Hazel Park. She lives in Grosse Pointe, and when she is not making music, you can find her baking, reading, writing poetry, or spending time with her niece.
